The game
Privacy policy
Effective date: 15 October 2026 (draft: the studio should read this before it is published)
Holdout Squad ("the game") is published by Indie App Studios ("we"). This policy covers the game and the small server it plays on. The website has its own short policy.
The short version
You type a name. The game uses it, your room name and your actions to run the match, and passes your voice to your teammates while you hold the talk button. We do not ask for an account, an email address or a phone number, we show no advertising, and the game has no analytics or tracking software.
What the game and its server handle
| Your name | What you type in the lobby (up to 12 characters). Shown to the other players in your room, and in the list of best runs on the lobby screen, which anyone running the game can see. |
|---|---|
| Room name and map | Used to put people in the same match. Not linked to anything else. |
| Your actions in a match | Where you move, where you aim, when you fire, which perk you pick. Processed live so everyone sees the same match. Not kept after the match. |
| A random code | The game makes a random code on your device and sends it so that, if your connection drops, you can return to your place within twenty seconds. The server keeps it in memory for those twenty seconds only. |
| Your voice | Only while you hold the talk button: sound from your microphone is sent through our server to the other players in your room and played to them. It is not recorded or stored. |
| Best runs | When a run ends, the wave reached, the score, and the names used are added to a short list (the ten best per map) kept on the server, so the lobby can show it. |
What the game does not do
- It has no account or sign-in and does not ask for your real name, email address or phone number.
- It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking software.
- It does not read your contacts, location, photos, camera or files.
- It does not record voice.
What stays on your device
The game saves on your own device: your name and room name, your settings (look sensitivity, camera distance, volume, invert look, microphone on or off, frame-rate display, the view you chose), the random code above, and whether you have seen the how-to-play screen. Uninstalling the game deletes it.
Permissions on Android
- Internet: to connect to the game server. The game is online-only.
- Microphone: for push-to-talk voice chat. The phone asks the first time you press the MIC button. The microphone is only used while you hold it. If you say no, the rest of the game works.
- The game engine also declares standard audio-routing permissions (audio settings and Bluetooth) so sound can follow your headset. We do not use them to collect anything.
Other people and the host
The server runs on a hosting company's computers (Hostinger). Like every host, it keeps standard technical logs of connections, which include the network address a connection came from, for security and fault-finding. The game's own software does not store network addresses and we do not use those logs to identify players.
Other players in your room can hear your voice and see your name. You can mute any player from the player list, and turn your own microphone off in the settings. Please read the community rules.
Children
The game is not made for children and is not directed to them. Because it connects people who may not know each other, with voice chat, we ask that players are 13 or over. If you think a child has used the game and given a name or spoken in a room, tell us and we will remove what we can.
Your choices
You can play without ever using the microphone, use any name you like, and play in a private room with friends only. To have a name removed from the best-runs list, or to ask what we hold, write to techemayo@indieappstudios.com.
Changes
If the game starts to do anything not described here, this page and its date will change first.
